Flight 93 National Memorial

September 2016

Our next stop took us to Pennsylvania. We’d never been to PA before.
We passed the Punxsutawney exit on our way there. I didn’t see any groundhogs and as far as I know the day didn’t start all over again. Maybe we should have taken the exit.

We stayed at Mirror Lake RV Park in New Florence.
PA is a pretty big state. I don’t know what the rest of it is like but this part of it is beautiful!

The park had decent wifi so I looked up what to do in the area and found out
we weren’t very far from Shanksville, PA.

It was a solemn visit. The day was a beautiful September afternoon. The sky was especially blue.
September 11, 2001 was a beautiful Summer morning until…

The walkway is a timeline of events that day.

The people who lived there then and saw the explosion live there still.

There was a group of school kids there.
They were pretty young. Some of them just seemed happy to be on a field trip.
Some seemed deeply affected by it.

It was a day like that day!

The wall of names.

The large rock out there is the actual crash site. Only family members are allowed out there.

It was a very emotional experience to go there but I'm very glad we did.

About Me

My photo
Larry and I decided to retire and hit the road. We bought a new 5th Wheel and new truck to pull it. We packed up the dogs and we're heading out to check off that bucket list. We wake up every morning and "Thank Our Lucky Stars" that we get to do this.
