Searching For Ricky Bobby!

October 2016

I chuckled along with a lot of people when Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly did there “Shake and Bake” on the racetrack in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby! However never having been to Alabama and not being part of the NASCAR fan base, I thought Talladega, AL was a made up place! Turns out it’s real!
We made it one of our stops in our adventure on the road!
Mostly we hiked in the Cheaha State Park. Now that’s a place I can get in to!
It’s beautiful!
The Alabama sky was getting ready for Halloween!

Cheaha State Park was beautiful!

The sky was beautiful! The fallen leaves were beautiful!

Autumn in Alabama was just beautiful!
This was the tallest tower on the highest part of Alabama!

Plus they had this awesome little CCC museum! The tower of the museum actually marks the highest peak in Alabama. I can't believe I didn't get a picture from the outside!

I did get a couple from the inside looking down though! That's Larry with the puppies down there!

They showed a video about the Civilian Conservation Core in Alabama.
The stories of the young men who worked there were fantastic. Especially the one about the young man who walked miles to see a particular girl every day after work!
He married her of course. It was adorable!

Cotton fields

along the way!

After that it was off to Yellowhamer RV Park in Clanton, AL.
It’s an RV dealership, RV service center and RV Park all in one.
And the park is not just a parking lot! It’s a nice place!
They have a little lake with a hiking trail around it!

 The little lake at Yellowhamer!
This guy thought it was funny to torment Jenny and Jackson!

Saw this giant snapping turtle in the lake on our evening walk!

About Me

My photo
Larry and I decided to retire and hit the road. We bought a new 5th Wheel and new truck to pull it. We packed up the dogs and we're heading out to check off that bucket list. We wake up every morning and "Thank Our Lucky Stars" that we get to do this.
