Rainy Days, Rainbows and Rural Art!

June 2017

Conestoga Campground in White Sulfur Springs, Mt was a 5-day stop for us. It rained for 5 days!
At least, for the most part, it was a predictable rain. We’d wake up to a beautiful, if somewhat cloudy morning. Take a nice refreshing walk and it would start raining just as we got back to the trailer.
We took a lot of naps while we were there and I got a lot of work done on this blog. Just before the sun went down it would stop raining and we’d go for another walk!
The park had a fence around the perimeter. It wasn’t a secure fence, mostly just a property marker, but they had these kind of cool silhouette cutouts of different animals and western scenes. Jenny came upon a close to life size cutout of a pronghorn. She didn’t realize it was there until she was about 3 feet away from it. She jump back, startled, then just stared at it for the longest time. She backed off a little, looked at me and stared at it again! It was kind of hilarious to watch her. She didn’t know what to make of that thing! The next time we walked that way she was on the lookout and gave it a wide berth!
One of the nice things about the park was they were adamant about leashing dogs so I didn’t have to worry about some giant dog looking for wiener snacks running free. That happens more than you’d think!

Another nice thing was all that rain made for incredible rainbows!

This gorgeous bird kept hopping from post to post keeping up with us as we walked!
It's wings were a beautiful  iridescent blue!

Here's a sample of the silhouette cutouts. Not sure why I didn't take a picture of the pronghorn.

About Me

My photo
Larry and I decided to retire and hit the road. We bought a new 5th Wheel and new truck to pull it. We packed up the dogs and we're heading out to check off that bucket list. We wake up every morning and "Thank Our Lucky Stars" that we get to do this.
