Snoopy, Coffee Pot, Courthouse Butte! Where? I Don’t See It!

April 2017

We met our friends, Jim and Marsha in Sedona, AZ. Marsha’s a teacher so they like to take trips not too far from home for Spring Break. We stayed in another Coast to Coast Park called Page Springs RV Park in Cornville, AZ, nice place. They stayed at a Condo. Marsha had a map of the rock formations but couldn’t really see the images they were supposed to be. She’d show me the picture and I’d say, “Oh yeah, there’s Snoopy! Laying on his back on his dog house.” Or, “Yeah, see! It’s an old cowboy coffee pot!” “How do you see those?” she’d ask.

When we went to the Chapel of the Holy Cross last year we couldn’t get up to see the chapel because our truck is just too big for their tiny little parking lot. This time Larry parked at the bottom and stayed with the dogs while I rode up to the top with Jim and Marsha. Marsha has a bad knee so her handicapped parking sticker came in pretty handy. As we walked up the small hill to the chapel I noticed a formation that I was sure was The Madonna and Child. It’s quite beautiful! I pointed it out to them but being Jewish and not familiar with the statues of Mary and Jesus it took them a while to see it. I saw another smaller formation to the lower right of it. I gave it a name. See if you see it in the pictures.
I love Sedona! The Red rocks are breathtaking! Larry doesn’t like anything with crowds and it was pretty crowded!

This Tree (it is one tree) eating itself was in the RV Park!

The Condo Jim and Marsha stayed at had some awesome artwork!

The Madonna and Child Formation

See that tiny little formation to the lower right of the Madonna and Child?
I call it Cheeto-man Pretending to be Christian! Zoom in, you'll see why.
 The Eagle!

This house can be seen from the Chapel's courtyard.
Pretty impressive!

Found a place we could go hiking with the dogs!

Trivia Question: Where's the only place in the world where the Golden Arches are Turquoise?
Sedona, AZ of course!

Did I mention that along with dams Larry really likes fish hatcheries too!
 And I like flowers!
We went to this really cool museum! This is an old schoolhouse room.
Did I mention Marsha was a teacher?

It’s Not Just About The Destination!

March 2017

When we were home in December and January we made plans with friends to meet up in Sedona, AZ for spring break. That blog comes next but the journey there was worth mentioning.

We left cool and beautiful Northern California and headed for warm and windy Nevada!
Of course we got to go through amazing Lake Tahoe country first!

We stayed one night in one of our favorite places, Silver City RV Park in Minden, NV then headed to Tonopah, NV. If you’ve never been to Tonopah it’s a must! Just so you can say you’ve been the worst place in the country! Now, the wind that nearly blew our trailer over might have had something to do with my distaste for the place but it really was not one of my favorites! When we left here we hit a nasty snow storm! Again, I really have to figure out how to upload movies! The storm was pretty scary and I got it on video!
The next day we headed to Preferred RV Resort in Pahrump, NV. It’s another Coast to Coast Park. We loved this place! Also hot and a little windy but met some really wonderful people! Al and Karen and Raven and Cherrie shared some wonderful stories with us and we all went to the Pahrump Search and Rescue fundraiser dinner together! Al is a volunteer with the Search and Rescue Team. Apparently we were having so much fun we forgot to take pictures again! The park also has 2 great little fenced in dog runs that Jenny and Jackson appreciated and who doesn’t like to say Pahrump?!?
After Pahrump… tee hee, giggle, giggle, we headed over to Ridgeview RV Resort in Bullhead City, AZ, yes it’s Coast to Coast! Another nice place. We got a spot on the ridge overlooking the bright lights of Laughlin, NV (think Las Vegas a few decades ago) and the Colorado River! Beautiful views both day and night! We did a little sightseeing while we were there too!
As you can see Jenny was really impressed with out beautiful view!

Night View

There's a little quail up there that came to greet us every evening!

If there's a Dam, we're going to go see it!

Larry loves dams!                                                         Sherry loves plants!

Did you know Bullhead City, AZ was named for this formation in the Colorado River? Apparently people think it looks like a Bull's Head.

So remember, even when you have a destination in mind don’t forget to enjoy to journey along the way!

About Me

My photo
Larry and I decided to retire and hit the road. We bought a new 5th Wheel and new truck to pull it. We packed up the dogs and we're heading out to check off that bucket list. We wake up every morning and "Thank Our Lucky Stars" that we get to do this.
