Trout Pond

October 2016

One of our favorite places to visit was a complete surprise! We knew we wanted to visit Shenandoah National Park but a 200-mile plus day is a little too much. We decided to stop at Trout Pond Campground in Washington/Jefferson National Forest in West Virginia. We thought we might do some trout fishing while we were at Trout Pond. We got there and found out Trout Pond is a sinkhole! Literally! It’s a sinkhole that filled up with water! But it was pretty cool and the whole area is amazing! It’s so beautiful! It was a little drizzly but it was so pretty we went for a hike anyway. Even with the leash law we saw quite a few large dogs running around not on a leash and not supervised at all! I HATE that! One of my big pet peeves! They always say, “Oh Satan here won’t hurt anyone! He’s just a big ol’ teddy bear!” Yeah right, that’s what they say just before they try to attack my dogs! I don’t care how friendly you think your dog is, if there’s a leash law, LEASH YOUR DOG!!! Okay, rant over. Anyway… with all the big dogs running around we decided to stay safe and leave the dogs in the trailer. They’re not real fond of rain anyway. The hike was one of the most awesome we took!

Jenny and Jackson loved this place!

I celebrated October by putting up Hazel! I made her a long time ago!

Trout Pond!
The sinkhole!

I thought it was funny that they blocked the road with a sign that said
Service Road Do Not Block!
 I can't remember his name but it's a Golden Retriever/Dachshund mix!

I thought we started seeing these bugs in Georgia but this is West Virginia!
I started calling them Stephen King bugs because every time I would go to grab something,
one of these creepy bugs would be there!

Wasn't sure if it was a Newt or a Salamander. But it was pretty cool!

I just couldn't get enough of this place!

I love it when our adventure gives us surprises like this!

Larry and I decided to retire and hit the road. We bought a new 5th Wheel and new truck to pull it. We packed up the dogs and we're heading out to check off that bucket list. We wake up every morning and "Thank Our Lucky Stars" that we get to do this.
