September 2016
We stayed at a place called Hollywood Casino RV Park in Joliet, IL. It’s one of those Hotel/Casinos with an RV Park out back. We’ve been to others where the “RV Park” is a parking lot with hookups. This place was actually nice with grass and shade trees and everything!
Chicago has lots of interesting things to see: art museums, natural history museums, cultural centers. I let Larry pick where we should spend the day so… we met up with my cousin Kate and spent a day at the Museum of Science and Industry: my last choice. As it turns out it was awesome! They had a submarine from WWII with lots of interesting information about that time in our history, a cool little replica street of the early part of the 20th Century AND A TORNADO! We had a really great time!
Some of the posters they had to convince women to join in the war effort.
The submarine! You could tour inside but we ran out of time!
Life sized cutouts of the sailors who served!

Kate and I had our picture taken at one of those old time photo places!
I like the one on the right: Carefree, happy daughter and disapproving mom!
Kate's my cousin but she's younger than 2 of my kids!
A miniature, modern Chicago!
My mom used to work at the
Chicago Library. I asked one of the guys who worked there which building was the library. He didn't know!
This was the awesome tornado! They had a machine that makes a tornado and you can watch it develop from mild wind to raging tornado. Very cool!
That night we met
with Kate’s significant other, John and her parents, My Uncle Jim and Aunt Annette
at the RV Park for a barbeque!
FUN DAY!!!
