If you’ve been
reading this blog you might have noticed the date the blog is posted is not the
date of the event. I put the date it actually happened up at the top. You also
might notice that the most recent date was May of 2017. The date of this post however
is a little longer ago. I’m going to cheat a little here.
Back in the summer of
2014 Larry and I were still working stiffs. We were still taking vacations.
That summer our vacation also took us through Washington State. I hadn’t seen
my childhood best friends for almost 40 years! They were from WA originally but
lived next door to us in Southern California for a short time, too short. When
they moved back to WA my sister, Connie and I took a bus trip to see them when
we were teenagers and they each came to visit us in separate trips when we were
in our 20s. The last time I saw Kelly, who I named my middle daughter for, was
Oct of 1976. I remember because she happened to be visiting when I went into
labor with my son, Jeffry. I saw Wendy in May of 1977. I remember that because
she happened to be visiting when I turned 21 and she, my sister Connie and I
went to Disneyland to celebrate! I was so excited to be able to visit them both
that summer of 2014!
At the time, Kelly
lived in Yakima, WA. We stopped by where she worked and it was nearly impossible
to keep myself from climbing over the counter to hug her when I saw her! I
refrained! Of course as is so often the case with true friends, the years fell
away and we were High School girls again. There was no awkward time. Just
sharing of lives and reminiscing! It was a little bit of Heaven!
Beautiful Buck Canyon Lodge!

Wendy, Jackson, Me and Jenny
at beautiful Buck Canyon Lodge!
Wendy and her husband Rick own The Buck Canyon Lodge in Gifford, WA, set on Lake Roosevelt.
We drove there to see them! It’s so beautiful!
Now for the reason behind this “cheat” post. At the time I told her I was going to write a blog about our vacation and include her awesome Lodge in it. That didn’t happen and I wasn’t able to go there again this year so I’m keeping my promise to blog about their awesome lodge! I’m just a tad late! But Buck Canyon is a truly beautiful place and if you’re looking for a fun summer getaway give Rick and Wendy a call!
The view of Lake Roosevelt from Buck Canyon Lodge!
