Painted Desert

March 2018

Initially I was going to do a combo post of the Painted Desert and The Petrified forest
but I looked at the pictures and realized they need separate posts!
I’ll start with the Painted Desert.
If this place is not on your bucket list to visit, it should be! Spectacular doesn’t come close to describing it! And I tried but these pictures don’t do it justice either. Every view is beautiful and awash with color! One of the truly awesome aspects of the place is that the beauty changes with the position of the sun and the type of weather. The same overlook looks completely different in the morning as it does in the afternoon and evening!
I hope you enjoy what I tried to capture!

This was a restaurant, inn, gift shop run by Native Americans.
I bought a carved turtle necklace carved by the lady's Grandson.
They were Hopi.

I love checking out places where people used to live and work and worship!

Such a beautiful and fascinating place!

Lake Havasu

February/March 2018

From Yuma we moved on to the Lake Havasu area of Arizona. With our Colorado River Adventure and Coast to Coast Membership we can stay for free at some nice RV parks for up to 2 weeks. I like to time it and move around to get as much out of the membership as possible. So we stayed in 4 or 5 different parks for pretty cheap. Some of the parks were nicer than others but it’s Arizona so the views were pretty spectacular in all of them!

It's hard to tell but the desert was fill with RVs!
We drove through Quartzite, AZ. Some consider it the RV Capitol of the country. They have a big Gem and Mineral show there every year that we’ve never been to. I’m more into rocks than Larry but I’m not sure if even I am up to the massive numbers of people and rigs. They have lots of RV Parks in the area but some people prefer to “boondock” in the desert for free. You can’t really tell from the picture but the desert was filled with RVs! No hookups and no sewer is not for us! I’d rather pay and get a few comforts!

Fun Roller Coaster Road!
This guy liked to hang out at the park!

Haven't seen was of these in a while so I took a picture!
And yes it worked, I checked!
Beautiful Lake Havasu!
Being on the road full time presents some challenges for medical care. We try to visit our doctors in California when we go back there in December but sometimes things happen along the way. One things that happened was our annual vision check. Somewhere along the line I lost my prescription sunglasses and since my prescription hadn’t changed I elected to use my one free pair a year on new sunglasses!
My new shades!
Loved this view!

Moon rise over the mountains!

We finally got an RV state map. We decided to only put up the states that we have been to since retiring! Hopefully we'll get those NorthEastern States filled in soon!
Road Runner in the park! I couldn't find the coyote!

Saw this awesome mural in Bullhead City, AZ. It took 3 pictures to get the whole thing!

I kept seeing a commercial for this and decided to try it.
My new favorite beverage!

I just love the desert views!

Hope you're enjoying our blog! Don't forget to hit the follow button!

Yuma Lakes

February 2018

We spent the last week of January and all of February in Arizona. I love Arizona! It’s mysterious and magical. Just be careful of where you go in Arizona in the summer! When I heard the name, Yuma Lakes RV Park, I had my doubts, but there really are lakes there! And they’re pretty! I started walking in earnest while there, logging 4 to 5 miles a day (don’t try that in summer) and I lost 15 pounds! Great start!
Got this cute guy while we were there!
Saw this sign and thought it was a great reminder!

Wildlife on the lake!

They had quite a few of these wagons around the park!

Lovely Yuma sunset!
Larry finally talked me into getting a satellite dish while we were there too! I was concerned about the expense but turns out it’s very affordable! We got the receiver free with a 2-year contract and it’s only an added $40 a month for TV. We got a Wally with it, which allows us to record our favorite shows and Larry is getting really good at setting the receiver up. I got an app on my phone that shows where the satellites are in the sky so we can make sure there’s no trees in the way when we set up. The only negative is, Larry is obsessed with the weather! He records 5 or 6 news programs a day and we watch them all! Well we watch the weather part of them anyway! But I get to watch some of the shows I’ve been missing so our home on wheels is more like home!

My awesome satellite finding tool!
Can't put it up here. Trees are in the way!

About Me

My photo
Larry and I decided to retire and hit the road. We bought a new 5th Wheel and new truck to pull it. We packed up the dogs and we're heading out to check off that bucket list. We wake up every morning and "Thank Our Lucky Stars" that we get to do this.
